Safety

At Okanagan Urban Contractors, safety is at the core of everything we do—from residential renovations to large-scale commercial construction across the Okanagan Valley. We are fully committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for our employees, subcontractors, clients, and the public.

We strictly follow all WorkSafeBC regulations and guidelines, and we ensure our health and safety practices meet or exceed the standards set by the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. Our safety program is designed to prevent incidents through planning, training, and strong site-level leadership.

Accountability is non-negotiable.
Our management team is responsible for setting the tone, providing resources, and ensuring every project operates under a clear and enforceable safety plan. Site supervisors are tasked with monitoring compliance daily, performing risk assessments, and ensuring all workers understand and meet their responsibilities. Every worker is expected to actively participate in creating a safe job site—by reporting hazards, following protocols, and stopping work when necessary.

We conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and toolbox talks, and maintain transparent reporting practices. With a commitment to continuous improvement, we hold ourselves and each other accountable—because in our culture, safety is everyone’s job, and prevention is the only acceptable goal.

At Okanagan Urban Contractors we don’t compromise on safety. We build with integrity, responsibility, and the belief that every worker should go home safe—every day.
